That was a very interesting video about the black dog. My mother suffered from severe depression for most of her life. When we were kids she spent a lot of time in hospitals, sometimes months at a time on psychiatric wards . When she was home she spent most of her time crying or not speaking too anyone. It was very difficult as a child to understand what was going on. In those days they kept a person drugged and she was also given electrical shocks. I have siblings who suffer from the same problem and also other family members. So far I have been lucky and have escaped the black dog. At least today there are facilities and medications to help people through those bad times and I am very happy that some people who suffer from depression can get help if they want it. So that term has been around at least 150 years.
